Thank you, Pak Bakir !! Retirement Ceremony of the Head of the Way Kambas National Park Office

…. as a former conservation employee in a national park environment, it is impossible for me to stop conservation activities in my life (Subakir, 2020)

The Retirement Ceremony of the Head of the Way Kambas National Park Office was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, attended by many parties at the provincial and district levels. Aside from that Head of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park Management Office, representing the Directorate General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems, Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition, the heads of the buffer villages around the Way Kambas National Park, community leaders and religious leaders as well as civil society organization partners to support the protection of the Way Kambas National Park area as an ASEAN Heritage Park with 5 key species such as: the Sumatran Rhino, Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Elephants, Tapirs, and Sun Bears.

“…made me proud when I was serving in Way Kambas National Park was the increasing number of key populations increasing in population. Like the Sumatran Rhino in SRS gave birth to a baby rhino naturally after 124 years … ”he said in giving a message while working in Way Kambas National Park.

No less than 300 invited guests who attended, including forest rangers and all the staff of the Way Kambas National Park Office were present. The Covid Prevention Protocol is well implemented by ensuring that all invited guests wear masks, provide hand washing stations, hand sanitizers and sit at a distance during the agenda.

The event was closed with the handover of souvenirs by the Penabulu Foundation representing SGP Indonesia to Mr. Subakir as a token of remembrance in ensuring the protection of Way Kambas National Park as the ASEAN Heritage Park (AHP).
